O convite de uma prima e as condições de trabalho em portugal levaram a Carla Martins para França. Não sabia falar a língua, sentia-se sozinha e questionou algumas vezes a decisão de sair do país. Hoje, 12 anos depois, diz que valeu a pena, "está a valer a pena" e que não se arrepende da escolha que fez.
